The Need For Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)

This is a test
this is a test too
Unfortunately, Google has to employ measures like LSI to prevent search engine spamming. This isn't a new part of their algorithm or some revolutionary new way they rank sites. LSI is simply a tool for detecting spam documents. The patent states that right at the beginning, "Detecting spam documents in a phrase based information retrieval system." Doesn't that say it all? It does clue the BlackHatters into the way Google detects spam and tries to combat it, but the point is you will get caught. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but eventually your junk sites will be found and frowned upon by Google. Ultimately, is short-term thinking. When you focus on just the search engines you lose focus on the most important factor - your visitors.

Hey Brandon,

I am glad you explained this myth to everybody. I have to second you and agree, that lots of marketers use "LSI" as a new sales tool. They try to sell them tools which would "solve" the LSI problem.

I also think that LSI is the last chance for hardcore SEOs to holdon to their clients.

My advice to all publishers out there is to focus on visitors first, post real content to real people, don't worry about the engines too much and traffic will follow.
